Title I Preschool


Title I sponsors a half-day preschool for New Bedford residents.  Children who will be four years old by September 10, 2012 are eligible to participate in the program during the 2012-13 school year.  The Title I Preschool Program operates in the following sites:



Alfred J. Gomes School  
        286 South Second Street

Hayden-McFadden School
        361 Cedar Grove Street

 

 

Bus transportation is provided only for students living in designated areas of the city.  Please call the preschool office at (508)997-4511 ext. 3439 for more information.  You may also e-mail questions to:

Morning preschool hours are 8:15 A.M. to 11:15 A.M. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. There is no school on Wednesday morning.  Afternoon preschool hours are  11:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. Monday through Thursday.  There is no school on Friday afternoon. During the course of the day, preschool children participate in a wide variety of learning experiences.  Many activities are "hands-on" and require active particpation.  Lessons in the following areas are presented:
 

Reading/Language Readiness
Math
Social Studies
Science
Music
Art
Physical Education

Preschool children can certainly be exposed to the wonders of the internet.  Parental supervision is absolutely critical.  Follow some of the links below to access some safe and educational sites.
