New Bedford High School Boys Volleyball, which began in the fall of 1986, has become Massachusetts's most successful boys volleyball program.  The 2008 season marks the 22nd year of NBHS Boys Volleyball. They are the only boys volleyball team that has qualified for every state tournament since the MIAA began to recognized boys volleyball in the spring of 1989.  The NB Whalers have won 8 State Championships.

 

The “Tradition of Excellence” shown by the New Bedford High School Boys Volleyball Program has been the direct result of a philosophy that places TEAM above individual.  It is based on the following mission statement…

 

Whaler Mission Statement

The goal of the Whaler Volleyball program is to offer student-athletes a disciplined, systemic approach to the playing of winning volleyball.  The Program will strive to provide daily opportunities for players to develop and understand the importance of individual effort and teamwork.  Coaches and players will work together to develop positive habits and to build individual character.
