School officials ask that parents of children who have just moved into the area or those who require bilingual education to be sure they have registered their children to attend school.

Registration for all new kindergarten students, new transfers to elementary schools and those children who require bilingual education is at the School Administration building on County Street at the Central Registration Office, Room 106. New residents or transfer students entering New Bedford High School must also register before school starts. Parents can call the school at (508) 997-4511, Ext. 2399, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The three middle/junior high schools are also open for registration and transfers from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Each student must have a birth certificate, immunization record and proof of residency, (a real estate tax bill and/or utility bill).
