Goals and Objectives

Goal(s):

The Normandin Middle School Council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal, parents, teachers, community members and students.  The council improves student outcomes by uniting, in responsible participation, those closest to the teaching-learning relationship; the council creates through the development of a shared vision and planning a school environment which unites all members of the school community in a sense of belonging, commitment and growth.

Objectives:

  • To adopt educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards.
  • To identify the educational needs of students attending the school
  • To assist the principal in the review of the annual school building budget by reading through documents that describe the budget in order to understand the implications for items in the school improvement plan that will be developed by the council.
  • To assist in formulating a school improvement plan.
  • To ensure a Student Handbook that informs parents and students of the protocols that guide student learning and behavior.
  • To encourage parent participation in the school community including membership in the PTO, serving as school store volunteer, supervising in the lunch room (Community Leaders in the Cafeteria), and serving as chaperones on field trips, supervising before and after school, baking for activities, participating in Expo and Open House evenings in addition to other activities.
  • Support new experiences for all students that encourage involvement of some kind in music, the arts, etc.
